Maintaining a Consistent Social Media Presence: Tips for Your Business

Posting to social media on a regular basis can be tough. Your clients need your attention. You’re busy perfecting your products. You're worried about payroll. The shop needs to be swept. There are other tasks constantly vying for your attention! Believe me, I get it. BUT your social media is an essential part of your marketing tool kit, and you need to stop neglecting it. To help your business grow, social media consistency is key.

Think about the companies you follow on social media. If they haven’t posted in a while, you probably wonder what’s wrong. That’s if you notice you haven't seen them in a while. The companies you’re thinking about are usually the one’s posting every day.

Before you start spiraling, I am not telling you to come up with something to post every, single day (although you could with stories). I am telling you to start posting to your feed on a regular basis, whether it’s posts or reels. If that means you’re posting twice a week, then post twice a week, but BE CONSISTENT.

How do I stay consistent? Glad you asked! Organizing and streamlining your process can help with your consistency.

Here are a few tips to help you get organized:

Make an appointment in your calendar.

Block off an hour, or two, a week to brainstorm, plan, and create your content. Treat it like an appointment with a client and do not miss it! Like any habit, it might be a little tough to get started, but once you do, it'll be second nature!

Make a plan and stick to it.

Once you've brainstormed your content ideas, come up with a posting plan. Write it down on a physical or digital calendar to remind yourself. Be sure to include what and when you’re going to post. Be as specific as possible.

Make it simple.

You do not have to film elaborate dance trends or come up with seven slides for every post you create. Take a quick video or a picture with a simple caption and post it.

Finally, try not to overthink it. I know it’s easier said than done, we’re our own toughest critic. Ask someone close to you, who will be honest, what they think, but don’t spend hours obsessing over it. Good luck!
